what makes turtles different from other schools is the people that are there we Step Beyond the books to teach them values to teach them how they communicate with each other that influences a student's broader understanding of the world I love them so much our students are really are our driving force initially heard about Veritas just from friends who were here and they all really loved it and so I thought I should go check this place out and then I came on campus I just really felt the sense of can and love here we also felt like the Christian environment was really important for the girls especially in the younger grades just as their kind of making decisions about who they are and what they believe we're just really wanted them to be surrounded by people who what are same values and faith we are independent Christian School in the classical tradition that prepare students for life of service and learning do I get them at excellence did development biblical literacy and intentional engagement opportunities every class has a Biblical component we integrate Bible into all of our classes is not a separate class is is a lifestyle in our community to be here where every single person is walking in faith not just every student but every teacher every person that is working here is walking living that faith and pouring it into the children and that is really the biggest difference the teachers here understand which I think is really unique about Veritas that it's not just a job you can find a job anywhere it is emission we feel we are called it's be calling on our lives we don't limit ourselves to just you know that lesson plan or and it's a really important to do that but we see beyond it how can I leave a mark on the life of this child I really enjoy about teaching is knowing that I'm building a foundation and a student's lives skills that they can take forward that will help them and their understanding as they go into high schools that go college and also here in particular I have the opportunity to pray with students I have that opportunity to share some of my personal stories of what God's done in my life and how that taught me so I try to take that way text book information but also life experiences of mine I know it's a call from God and so I have this desire to teach and to try to be the best teacher I can the curriculum is something that we're always looking into how we can improve how can we add new more Innovative practices so that we can really train our students to be what God wants them to be I feel like that's the secret sauce is really caring for each kid and how God created that and when you do that it's like they're free to really learn my favorite memory and experience at Veritas is definitely within the cultural Expedition strip we get to be with or without friends while we were in the cultural Expeditions trip while we're learning about the history and that's one of the the fun Parts about it but it's also educational which is like a double experience so I think that's one of my favorite moments spiritual education that Veritas gave me when I was younger really built the foundation of my faith moving into high school and even College at the time you know they make you learn all these Bible verses and I was really bad at memorization so I was like I don't want to say it but I think moving into high school you're surrounded by so many new people who have different beliefs and peer pressure situations where it's like the scriptures that are hidden in my mind will come out when I need them you know the holy spirit will talk to you so I think that the biblical Foundation that was built at Veritas really carried with me and helped me through a lot of the scenarios and not knowing what to do I think that what was instilled in us when we were young tends to come up and even education here moving to high school was like the breeze I felt like I knew everything because Veritas was so ahead of its time that when I go to high school and I'm taking regular classes it's like I already know all this stuff to buy word that so I think that apart from the education the biblical educational is really strong and really help to push all of that negativity away how to relate to other people who believe different things from you is really important and that's one of the things that Veritas sounds for very for Veritas is blessed being a school there really represents where Houston is about Houston is the very diverse City and we are blessed to see R&R school we have over 28 countries represented here at Veritas and just to see our students share their cultures share about how they worship God is such a wonderful enriching experience for a student really talk about diversity a lot we talk about our cultural backgrounds and things like that but what I love about Veritas is all the different diversity and by that I mean we have Financial diversity we have proximity diversity there are large families there are only children there people who have lived in Houston for ever there people who move to Houston from another city or another country Alps and the day-to-day experience of our students that's what they're going to see in the world and affordable school we purposely keep tuition low because they want to keep it diverse and keep it accessible to as many people as possible that something that I appreciate and I want to be a part of that mission here in Houston and providing affordable Christian education to as many people as we can we have a common purpose you know we have a common face we have a common Mission by lover Foundation For Life emphasis and that's something that I thought about so much as my children you know have become adults and I'm so thankful that that Foundation that was strengthened and shaped from their time here we all his parents want the best for our children even those books of yours that's really not a manual to say Hugo ABCD and do this and you're going to have good job but coming to Veritas you can be assured that they would know that's definitely what no gotten so that helps a lot of things they are going to be educated they are going to have them have a broad understanding of a lot of things for exam are you going to go take the trip so you going to learn about Texas history you going to go to International place and learn how they do things and get that experience on their these things like they they are all there for you if you will find that Veritas is grade school extended family that's how I look at it as actually even the kids sometimes say this they say when I come here not only do I feel safe but I feel that this is my family thank you note the kids giggling laughing it just like this these things during the day and it just the warms your heart and then make her know that you are and that I plays
