Veritas Board of Trustees appoints David Q. Hao as Veritas' Next Head of School

Please Join Us in Welcoming our new incoming Head of School, David Q. Hao

Dear Families of Veritas,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am delighted to announce that we have appointed David Q. Hao as the new Head of School effective June 1, 2022.  This concludes an extensive nationwide search which was led by the placement firm The Education Group and a Search Committee made up of David Steinbach (chair), Kendra Thomas, Teandra Gordon, Cody Moore, Ramy Hanna, and Allison Finch in addition to the countless number of parents that either attended the in-person interview sessions with the finalist or filled out surveys at the beginning or end of this process.

David is coming to us as the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at the University of St. Thomas.  Before that role, he served as the Dean of Student Success & Advising out of the Office of the Provost, as well as an adjunct professor at Houston Baptist University.  David also comes to us with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree and a Master in Higher Education degree from Boston College, as well as a Bachelor of Business degree from Baylor University.  He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and continues to be a licensed attorney.  David has additionally presented at numerous national associations, published scholarly pieces, as well as raised millions of dollars in capital campaigns.

While his education, leadership, and personal accomplishments stand on their own, David’s personal Christian faith, as well as a vision for what is possible at a diverse school such as ours, is what excites us the most. He will lead from a place of ministry, and we believe he will serve our families well. David loves our distinctive culture, and his energy to charge ahead alongside us as we collectively write our next chapter is indeed inspiring. On a personal note, David has been married to his wife Claire for eleven years, they have three beautiful daughters (ages 8, 6, and 2), and they live in Sugar Land.

We also want to deeply give our thanks to Lina Delgado who agreed to step in and serve as our Interim Head of School.  She did so out of service to the school in a time when the school was still navigating COVID as well as the departure of Brad Sewell. The Board of Trustees wanted to specifically state its appreciation to her for doing this and leading us exceptionally well through this time.  She will remain the Interim Head of School through the end of the Spring Semester.  After that time, Mr. Hao has appointed Lina in a newly created role as the Associate Head of School for Curriculum and Instructional Excellence. We are excited for Lina to take this new role and know she will continue to serve the school and your families well.

Last, we want to thank the parents of Veritas.  We appreciate the support and patience you had through this entire process. As you all know, a great deal of confidentiality was required when navigating employment changes and decisions. In addition, we needed your patience to give all parties involved the time required to do this well.

This represents a big and important decision for Veritas.  We all have the strong conviction that our best days remain ahead of us!

Sincerely,

Kendra Thomas
