2021 Scholastic Writing Awards Recipients

Five Veritas students could bear the agony no longer as they authored their short stories and were all awarded Regional (Harris County) Silver and Gold Keys for their entries into the 2021 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.  These students will represent our school at the 7th-8th Grade Regional Gold and Silver Key Art and Writing Ceremony on March 24th at The Ballroom at Bayou Place.  The students who received these awards are:
  • Avani Yaltho (7th Grade) received a Gold Key and an American Voices nomination for her short story submission Paper Swan.
  • Mikayla Villafuerte (8th Grade) received two Gold Keys; one for her short story, Forbidden Love, and another for her science fiction & fantasy story, Stars in the Dark.
  • Eden Droog (8th Grade) received a Gold Key for her short story A Pig and a Purpose.
  • Nicole Bakht (8th Grade) received a Silver Key for her science fiction & fantasy story The White Dove.
  • Olivia Nicholas (8th Grade) received a Silver Key for her short story A Gift from Above.
  • Audrey Finch (Veritas Alum, c/o 2020) also received a Gold Key for her submission.
